You’ve heard of microformats but what are they exactly? Why are they relevant on the web? Scott Reynen will answer these questions and provide examples of tools and sites using microformats.

Come with questions and conversation. Come early (6:30) to mingle with like-minded designers and developers, soak in a fresh presentation (7:00), and then stick around afterwards to share project stories.

Illegal Grounds Coffeehouse is a cafe located in an old Victorian house in the Uptown neighborhood. Equipped with free WiFi, air conditioning, comfortable couches, a flagstone patio, and ample outdoor seating, it’s the perfect place to study/write/read or catch up with friends. We offer free, reserveable meeting space and events.

All coffee and milk products are organic, free-trade, and all-natural. Our baked goods are all locally produced and we have fresh sandwiches and bagels.

Helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year) as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. Hey all!

Sorry for the deletion of the last post. Bad blogging etiquette aside, we will be having our next meetup/happy hour on Monday, September 17 at 5:30 pm.

We’ll be confirming the location and presentation (hopefully) early in the next week. We are also in progress on a new design for this site and welcome any input or suggestions for features.

By the way, we are definitely curious to know how our attempts to expand our reach are working, so feel free to drop a comment if you plan to attend our next meetup!

Because it’s summer and many people have planned vacations — we are canceling July and August events. In addition, we are planning on holding another big get together in the fall (sometime in September).

With luck, we’ll have another great turn-out with a lot more involvement from the community of designers and developers. See you then.

Parking: There is metered parking on the street and free parking just north of the Hive at the north-west corner of 17th and Platte St.  You can also park at The Vitamin Cottage but you must purchase something from the store to get a parking token.  Also be advised — it is not recommend that you park at the REI building.

Refresh Denver, is planning on having it’s first get together on May 21st, 2007.

This gathering will be an informal ‘happy hour’ somewhere in the Denver Metro Area.

Do you have any great locations in mind that you would like to suggest?  Ideally, this place should have an actual ‘happy hour’ and allow under-aged people to participate in our gathering.

Also, bring a stack of business cards to pass-out.  In addition, bring your topic idea’s for future gatherings.
