January 2008 Gathering, Meeting Where???
Hello Refreshers,
We just wanted to let you know that we are having problems finding a location that will hold 30+ people for our next gathering — which is suppose to meet this coming Wednesday night. Unfortunately, if we’re unable to find a location we’ll have to cancel this months meeting and hope some place will present itself for next months meeting as well as future meetings.
Anyway, is there anybody out there willing to step forward and help make this happen? Can you find us a venue?

What are the requirements?
Hooked on Colfax has a downstairs meeting room which can hold 30 people, but doesn’t have enough seating. They have free wireless. You would need to reserve the room and parking is ‘interesting’. There is no screen or whiteboard - and, naturally, no projector.
It would probably be better than canceling.

I’ve requested info from the reservations person at the Central branch of the Denver Library - most branches close at 6 on Wednesdays, but the Central branch allows meetings outside of their regular hours. The fee would be $30 or less sans food (there’s an additional $25 fee if we bring in food), so fairly reasonably covered by sponsorship. The bad news - you have to reserve at least 14 days in advance, so it’s out for this month. But could be an option for future meetings.
I’ve also e-mailed the event coordinator at the Tattered Cover so see about their meeting room at the LoDo location, but she’s out of the office on Fridays. :/ I know the Denver JUG meets at the Tivoli Student Union at Auraria, but I have no idea who to contact about reserving the room.
Worst case scenario, everyone could sit on the floor in our living room. It’s centrally located.

@Mike & @Julie — thanks for jumping in.
@Mike — at this point we just need a room where 30+ plus members can direct their attention to four or five panelists that sit up front and address our questions about running our own web businesses — the topic is “Web Business Round Table Discussion With A Panel of Web Business Owners.” Luckily, this time we don’t need a screen or whiteboard or projector.
@Julie — Unless someone wants to “pony up” the money sounds like DL is out despite the 14 days in advance. However I don’t think the worst case scenario needs to be your home (though it might be fun) — we could just cram into the hive again.

The downstairs room of Hooked on Colfax is long and narrow. It has a well lit large table at one end which would be suitable for the panel. The rest of the room has various comfortable chairs.
It isn’t ideal, but it would work. AFIK it is free, but then they expect to sell some coffee, tea and snacks.
If you can, please take a look.
We will need to reserve it to make sure we have the room.
Parking is ‘interesting’, as I said, but AFIK you can legally park on 14th street - one block north of Colfax.

Denver Open Media hosts the Drupal meetings, and we’d surely be happy to host a meeting for Refresh. Eventually, if the group is down for it, people can even start filming the meeting, broadcasting and webcasting them live on TV and the internet, since we’re denver’s public access TV station.
Our Studio A fits about 50 people…
